Epidote
Epidote is a striking mineral known for its earthy green, olive, yellow-green, and sometimes nearly black coloration. Its name comes from the Greek word epidosis, meaning “increase” or “addition,” referring to the distinctive way its crystal faces develop. Epidote commonly forms in metamorphic rocks and hydrothermal environments and is often found alongside minerals such as quartz, feldspar, and prehnite. With its rich, natural coloring and glassy-to-resinous luster, Epidote is valued by mineral collectors as well as those drawn to stones with a strong connection to the natural world.
Growing throughout the Epidote are numerous Quartz crystals, ranging from translucent and smoky-gray to milky white and clear. Some contain visible Epidote inclusions, preserving tiny green mineral formations within the Quartz as it grew. Particularly interesting are the miniature scepter-like Quartz formations, where later crystal growth has produced broader terminations over narrower underlying crystals. Together, the inclusions, overlapping growth stages, and small scepters make this a wonderfully complex specimen to explore closely, with new structures becoming visible from different angles and under changing light.
Together, this combination is a powerful intention stone that encourages growth, transformation, and the focused manifestation of what you wish to bring into your life.
